A good day paying it forward

Today was a good day.

I got an email from someone I had met at an accelerator program ‘graduation’ event a few months ago and loved what they were doing. The startup is in reverse logistics freight management and the founder is experienced, passionate and focused. A few weeks later she contacted me as they were raising a seed round. I connected her to a local angel investor who I respect and she mailed me today to thank me for the introduction and to say the angel had invested. Very rewarding.

I’ve just had drinks with the founder of an online training provider with a new take on training and he thanked me for some advice I gave him a few months ago around negotiating a tricky leadership issue inside the startup. They have settled things and are growing fast and both happy so another good result.

The reason it’s rewarding is that I am a benefactor of and believer in reciprocity — the good kind of giving because you have received, not owing because you are in debt.
