Mindmapping for the iPad from Mindmap-aholic…
As an early adopter and long time Mindmap-aholic, I’ve been scouring the web for an easy to use Mindmapping tool for the iPad. The iPad is an obvious candidate fo those in-meeting or in-discussion Mindmaps and for brainstorming via a larger screen or projecter, hence my quest.
My weapon of choice for the desktop is Mindmanager, so easy synchronisation with Mindmanager would be first prize. I tested the better quality Mindmapping tools, being
- Freemind . Not an option. No iPad app, clunky to use and not fully featured like Mindmanager (import, export, task management, etc).
- Mindmanger. No iPad app yet, only an iPhone app. Very poor long way round synchronisation
I excluded the online options as I’d like to use this on the iPad when I’m offline:
- Mindomo. Not a fan, and no iPad app.
- MindMeister . Nice tool, but no desktop or iPad app.
The two remaining iPad options are:
iBluesky lost as it does not export or import natively to Mindmanager, and the synchronisation interface is email. Too hard.
So I’m going with iThoughtsHD.
IThoughtsHD has cleverly integrated with Dropbox (see this & this post for more on Dropbox)
to handle synchronisation, and natively supports Mindmanager, as well as Freemind, XMind, Novamind, MindView and iMindmap.
Here’s a demo of iThoughtsHD
and this is how the sync works
Please let me know if I’ve missed a better option for iPad Mindmapping?
